500 Rising is a non-profit organization that offers data driven education in self defense. A Level 1 course is for Instructors and anyone interested in learning in-depth self defense. The course offers a life-changing perspective on personal safety.
Gift of Fear: Survival Signals That Protect Us from Violence is the most recommended book to read in the self defense field. Protecting the Gift and Fear Less are others from de Becker.
This book, When Violence is the Answer: Learning How to Do What It Takes When Your Life is At Stake was required reading as a part of involvement with 500 Rising. It was an eye-opening read.
Meditations on Violence: A Comparison of Martial Arts Training and Real World Violence is a book every martial artists need to read. Other books from Rory include:
